HMW Metal Works Pvt. Ltd. was established in 1975 and has manufactured in Agra ever since. We are an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer of aluminium alloy and copper alloy castings, pressings and machined components for the power sector, the railways and general engineering applications.
All three operations are carried out at Agra. A component therefore progresses from molten metal to a packed, inspected and fully machined part under our own control, allowing HMW to take responsibility for the complete part rather than a single stage of its manufacture.
Our principal customer is BHEL, whom we have supplied for over 25 years. We also supply to leading OLTC and switchgear OEMs, together with other established multinational power and engineering companies.
Dies and tooling are designed and manufactured in-house on SolidWorks, with CNC programming on SolidCAM. Keeping tooling development under our own roof shortens lead time on new drawings and holds the tolerance chain from die to finished part.

Commercial manufacture starts at the Agra works.
The beginning of a supply relationship now exceeding 25 years, spanning OLTC, bushing, breaker and traction components.
The quality management system is certified, and has been maintained through every surveillance and recertification cycle since.
Complete sub-assemblies — gear boxes, bearing housings and contact bridge assemblies — built from our own castings and machined parts, with powder coating carried out on site.
The Agra works comprises a casting unit, a press shop, a CNC and conventional machining unit, and a testing and inspection room, with standby generation to protect production against supply interruptions.

Aluminium gravity die casting is our core foundry process, supported by an electric holding-and-melting furnace and gas-fired furnaces for a consistent melt supply. Tilting gravity casting machines in heavy and light-duty configurations, together with a vertical casting machine, cover a wide range of part geometries up to 100 kg. Sand moulding handles larger and lower-volume work alongside the gravity dies, which are designed and cut in-house. Solution treatment, ageing and annealing are carried out on site to meet the drawing’s mechanical-property call-out.
A press shop running 50T to 100T presses produces copper and copper-alloy contacts and other pressings, with all press tools designed and manufactured in-house — so a new pressing does not wait on an outside toolroom.
CNC machining centres, including vertical machining centres with rotary tables, CNC lathes and a CNC milling-and-engraving machine cover prismatic and turned work, backed by conventional turret milling, radial drilling, and surface and cylindrical grinding for finishing operations. Components are generally supplied fully machined and finished to print. Tooling and fixtures are designed in SolidWorks with CNC programming in SolidCAM, keeping first-article turnaround on a new drawing in-house.
Vibro polishing in 250 and 400 litre capacities and in-house powder coating complete the surface finish. Hardware, bearings, seals and fasteners are fitted to our own castings and machined parts to deliver complete, inspected sub-assemblies rather than loose components.
Every process is backed by an in-house quality room: Brinell hardness testing on a 3000 kg hydraulic tester, universal tensile testing, air-pressure testing and dynamic balancing, with dimensional inspection on a granite surface plate using height, bore, thread and snap gauges. Radiographic-quality castings are produced where the specification demands it, and the quality system is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Almost every component we produce is made to a customer's drawing and material specification. Our facility is organised accordingly: tooling in-house, testing in-house, and a specification record maintained against every part we have manufactured.
