Metal components and assemblies for the power sector, railways and general engineering.
Aluminium, copper, bronze, brass and steel — cast, pressed, machined, assembled and tested. HMW supplies BHEL and leading OLTC and switchgear OEMs with components manufactured to drawing, to specification and to schedule.
The complete route, under our control.
Casting, pressing, machining, assembly and finishing are all managed by HMW, supported by in-house tooling design and CNC programming. We take responsibility for the component from molten metal to the inspected, finished part — not for a single stage of it.
Casting
Aluminium gravity die casting, together with copper, bronze, brass and gunmetal. Solution treatment, ageing and annealing are carried out in-house as the drawing requires.
Press shop
Presses from 50T to 100T for copper and copper-alloy contacts and other pressings, with press tools designed and manufactured on site.
Machining
CNC machining centres, CNC lathes and conventional machines. Components are generally supplied fully machined and finished.
Assembly & finishing
Hardware, bearings and seals are fitted to our own castings and machined parts to deliver complete sub-assemblies. Powder coating is available on site.
Materials we work in.
Aluminium, copper and copper alloys, bronze, brass and steel. Five decades of foundry and machining experience — across alloy selection, shrinkage and feeding, melt control and machinability — underpins every component we quote.
Aluminium alloy castings
Gravity die and sand castings from small components up to 100 kg, heat treated where the drawing requires, and to radiographic quality where the specification demands it.
Standards IS:617 · DIN 1725
Heat treatment Solution · Ageing · Annealing
Copper & copper alloys
High-conductivity copper castings, copper extrusions and pressed copper-alloy contacts, together with chromium copper and specialist arc-resistant contact alloys.
Also Chromium copper · Tungsten copper
Forms Castings · Pressings · Contacts
Bronze, brass & gunmetal
Bushes, worm gears and fittings, including gunmetal components press-fitted into aluminium housings and delivered as a finished assembly.
Bronze Aluminium bronze · Leaded tin bronze
Typical Bushes · Gears · Fittings
Steel machining & treatment
We work with various grades of steel — machined and heat treated as the customer’s drawing requires — for components and assemblies including drive shafts, worms, gears, discs, forged cranks, bearing flanges, bearing pins, shims, washers and couplers.

where our components are used.
hmw manufactures components and sub-assemblies. our parts are fitted into transformers, circuit breakers and traction systems built by cpses and leading oems, and are held to the tolerances, test certification and delivery schedules those assemblies require.

Tested and inspected in-house.
Our quality system is ISO 9001:2015 certified for the manufacture of machined and pressed components. Testing and inspection are carried out in our own quality room, so that non-conformances are identified before despatch rather than on the customer's line.
- Brinell hardness testing and universal tensile testing
- Air pressure testing and dynamic balancing
- Radiography-tested castings where the specification demands it
- Granite surface plate, height gauges, bore gauges, thread and snap gauges
- Dies and tooling designed in-house on SolidWorks; CNC programming on SolidCAM
